Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America We the members of Anacortes Lutheran WELCA, dedicate our services with love to the glory and honor of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

As a community of women, created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

SEWING CIRCLE

The sewing group meets each Tuesday (except Circle Day—the second Tuesday) from September through May. In June, July and August we meet the first Tuesday of the month. We come together to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief and the Red Cross. We also make quilts for each child baptized at Anacortes Lutheran and all graduating seniors. Items for Lutheran World Relief kits are also collected and assembled through this group. Sewing skills aren’t needed; there are lots of tasks that only require willing hands. People are working form 8:00 until 3:00, so come when you can and stay as long as you want. Bring a sack lunch and join those who work into the afternoon. NAOMI MINISTRY

This committee of women is available to church members who have lost a loved one. They will plan and provide for a coffee hour or luncheon, following the service, as the bereaved family desires; a time for sharing memories and fellowship with family and friends.

CIRCLES

There are four circle meetings held on the second Tuesday of the month during the day. The Anna Circle meets in the evening. Bible study takes up the greatest part of the meeting. A study session for Circle Study Leaders will meet on the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 AM in the Conference Room. Please take advantage of this opportunity. If you need a ride, call a circle chairwoman or the church office at 293-9586. If you wish to make a Circle change, please feel free to do so by advising the Board accordingly.
