Today we enter the 6th Sunday of Epiphany, AND we are joined by ALC's own BSA Scouts for Scout Sunday.
Scout Sunday is usually observed on the Sunday closest to the Birthday of BSA, but here in ALC we move it around a little bit to work around the annual meeting. (A Scout is courteous.) This year we just pushed it back a week. So today, several of the Scouts from Troops 4084 B & G, and Pack 4084 (for grades k-5) join us. (A Scout is reverent.) We will have Scouts acting as ushers, greeters, acolytes, and readers.
As a special treat, the Scouts will recite Scout Vespers at the end. Vespers is actually sung to the tune of "Oh Tannenbaum", but for the sake of COVID, it will be spoken today. This is a tune often sung to quietly close out evening campfire programs, large events, and even Scout worship services at times, in a quiet, calm, thoughtful, respectful, and reflective way.
